Camp in a Nutshell
Glenwood Summer Camp exists to provide a fun, educational, and enriching camp experience for children in and around the Glenwood Community. Our camp staff are made up of Hope Academy staff and Glenwood neighbors, all of whom are dedicated to seeing our community kids thrive. We’re committed to hosting a fun and memorable camp at a rate your family can afford!
All About Camp
Who can attend camp?
Students entering the 4th through 8th grades next year are eligible to sign up for camp. First priority is given to students who live in or around the Glenwood neighborhood.
Where is camp located?
Camp is hosted at Hope Academy, 1403 W. Florida St, Greensboro, NC. The school is located at the corner of Josephine Boyd St and West Florida St. We will also spend time at Glenwood Together, a community center just down the street, along with lots of field trips!
How much does camp cost?
We ask that all families contribute to the cost of camp and recommend that you pay $5, $10, or $20 per week. This is the total cost for your family each week, NOT the cost per child. If there is another amount that would work better for your family, please let us know.
Can we choose which weeks we attend?
Yes! You can choose to sign your child up for one or both weeks of camp. Camp slots are filled on a first-come, first-served basis, so be sure to select all of your desired weeks at sign up. Once slots are filled children will be placed on the waiting list.
Is camp COVID safe?
Because children under 12 are not able to be vaccinated, we recognize that there is risk of transmission. Because of this, we will be taking appropriate precautions. All campers & staff will be required to wear masks during indoor activities and when riding on the vans. Masks will be optional outdoors, but we will respect each other’s personal space.
What will students do during camp?
Each week we will have art and science activities, play basketball & gaga, and spend time in the garden. We will go on field trips 2-3 times per week — swimming, the movies, and educational field trips.
Are meals provided?
We recommend that you feed your child breakfast before camp. We will have a light breakfast available for any students who are still hungry.
Lunch will be provided each day – on days we are at Hope Academy, we will have a hot lunch. On field trip days we will have a bagged lunch. All lunches are provided by Guilford County Schools summer meal program.
Is transportation provided?
We are not able to provide transportation for students to/from camp.
